Teaflavin®
& Obesity |
 |
|
Most likely, weight loss occurring due to intake of
Teaflavin® can be attributed
to the mechanism that appears to cause a reduction in
cholesterol levels; Teaflavin®
appears to restrain the absorption of cholesterol in
the intestinal system.
However, there are five potential mechanisms indicating
how Teaflavin® may lead to
weight loss:
- A gastro-intestinal lipase inhibitor
- Stimulation of thermogenesis, increasing 24 hour
energy expenditure and fat oxidation
- Enhanced noradrenaline-induced lipolysis
- Increased acyl-CoA oxidase and medium chain acyl-CoA
dehydrogenase
- Raised mRNA expression as well as beta-oxidation
activity in the liver
- Modulation of the biological activity of androgens
and other hormones
